What do auto sheet metal parts depend on

The production of auto sheet metal parts mainly depends on mold. In the entire cycle of model design mold design, manufacturing and commissioning, mold design, manufacturing and commissioning account for about 2/3 of the time, which has become the main factor restricting the transformation and replacement of automobiles. This is because sheet metal stamping is a very complex plastic forming process, many factors directly or indirectly affect the forming results. The classical sheet metal forming theory can only analyze the sheet metal forming process of simple sheet metal parts such as bending parts and cup parts. Sheet metal parts with complex shapes such as car covers are powerless. As a result, the design of automobile die is still based on the experience and analogy of designers. Due to the lack of more accurate and reliable quantitative analysis and calculation, the designed and manufactured die must go through repeated pressure testing and modification, and sometimes even modify the design of the original product. Only after scrapping the remaking die can the qualified product be rushed out.

This process leads to a huge waste of people, money, things and time. In order to change the situation that the traditional experience and trial-and-error method are not suitable for the development of automobile industry, it is assumed that the stamping process can be simulated on the computer before the die is put into manufacture, that is, the die is analyzed in the virtual environment. If feasible, remanufacture. If not, then modify the mold design, or even modify the original product design to redesign the mold, re-simulation analysis, until it is feasible to put into the mold manufacturing. In this way, we can avoid the huge waste caused by debugging with the actual manufactured mold. This work is also called computer-aided engineering analysis of sheet metal forming. Influenced by the development of automobile industry, foreign automobile manufacturers have invested a lot of money to carry out this research.
